Lake of the Woods Property Reassessment
Last fall the Orange County Board of Supervisors contracted with the Wampler Eanes Appraisal Group to assess the fair market value of real estate in Orange County. Mike Didawick, the Project Manager for the reassessment, will be the guest speaker at the Lake of the Woods Civic Club meeting on Wednesday, June 10, at 7 PM, in the Clubhouse lower level.
Mike Didawick is a graduate of Shenandoah University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and has more than 30 years of experience in the Mass Appraisal business. Mike has worked on general reassessments in more than 25 localities throughout Virginia. At the Civic Club meeting, Mr. Didawick will explain how the reassessment is conducted and answer questions from the audience.
Starting last January, appraisers from Wampler-Eanes Appraisal Group of Daleville, Virginia, began visiting every property in Lake of the Woods as well as the entire county. Each property receives a walk around inspection, checking measurements and noting any physical changes or improvements to the property. The overall goal of the reassessment team is to inspect the exterior of each home or business.
When all the property visits are complete, a new value will be established for each property effective on January 1, 2016. Notices of the change in the property’s value will be mailed to every property owner in Orange County between October and November, 2015.
The Civic Club meetings are open to all residents. We hope to see you there!
