It's Almost Time for Chriskindlmarkt at LOW!

By Pat Licata-REALTOR
Mark your calendars for the 2014 Chriskindlmarkt coming to LOW on December 6th from 9am-3pm! I, for one, can’t wait! I’ve shopped til I dropped at the last two Chriskindlmarkt events, held at the Community Center, and I’m looking forward to doing the same again this year. There are so many great LOW crafters and artisans who sell their wares, along with others from outside the gates. It truly is a great place to score one-of-a-kind holiday gifts for others or for yourself.
In order to offer those great gifts and goodies, vendors are needed! If you would like to share your craft, vendor spaces are $40, and registration must be submitted by November 28th. Please contact Sylvia or Sara at 972-9680 or by email at or
I’ll be there, and I hope to see you!
It’s another beautiful day at the lake!

Getting to Know…New LOWA Board Director Larry Morlan

Getting to Know…New Lake of the Woods Association Board Director Larry Morlan By Pat Licata-REALTOR
larrymorlanAs you most likely know, Larry Morlan has been appointed to serve as on the LOWA Board until the next regular election in 2015. He joins Mike Rugless, President; Jim Hutchison, Vice-President; Louisa Rucker, Secretary; JoAnn Zwickl, Treasurer; Olive Kelly; and Nigel Goodwin. Larry is filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Dick Delio.
Larry and his wife, Joyce, moved to the lake from Illinois in January of 2013. As is often the case, Larry learned of Lake of the Woods from someone who knew someone who lived at the lake! In this case, Joyce’s sister, from Northern Virginia, had visited friends who were residents here. It didn’t take Larry long to immerse himself in the community in a big way! He took over as Neighborhood Watch Coordinator in September of 2013 when Jim Hutchison, who had been NW Coordinator, began serving on the LOWA BOD. Larry will continue as Neighborhood Watch Coordinator while also a Director.
Receiving his post-high school education in Kansas, Larry obtained a BS in Education and Political Science from Mc Pherson College and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. Prior to moving to Lake of the Woods, Larry held positions at Illinois State University from 1998-2010.
Larry is no stranger to community volunteerism and involvement on the BOD level. Past experiences include School Board Member, Swim Association Board Member, Rodeo Club Board Member, and Fine Arts Board Member.
Thank you for your service, Larry!
It’s another beautiful day at the lake!
