Last week, the Licata Group donated $3,000 to the Triad Guardian Alert Pendant Program. Licata Group has pledged to continue to donate this amount on a yearly basis provided business revenue will allow.
The Guardian Alert Pendant Program provides a device that will allow someone with mobility issues to contact 911 if they should fall, be unable to get to a phone, and be unable to recover. It can be a lifesaving device for those who are prone to falls. The program typically issues 30 devices a year to citizens in Orange County. The cost of providing those units falls around $6,000 currently.
The Licata Group is challenging other area businesses to donate to this program and collectively match their donation. If you would like to donate, there are several ways you can do that. The Soggy Doggie event is such a great way to close out the final days of summer and a wonderful ending to close down the pool season. Best of all, we are given an opportunity to watch these dogs enjoy themselves and have so much fun at the pool! The Lake of the Woods Adaptive Watersports Foundation is back and ready to host the SmileS Adaptive Carnival!
This Carnival brings water sports to people with disabilities of all ages and walks of life, as well as their families. The Carnival is held in honor of 2 highly honored women who left this world too young. What sports will be featured? There will be adaptive waterskiing, tubing, pontoon rides, kayaking, paddleboarding, and additional fun outdoor games! This year, LOW is partnering with Therapeutic Adventures – IndependencePlus Adaptive Sports to bring adaptive paddling!
This event is to take place on Sunday, August 1st at 9AM at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse Point (102 Lake of the Woods Way, Locust Grove, VA 22508).
