LOW Association Holiday Party!

The Lake of the Woods Association Holiday Party will be held on Sunday, December 6 from 1 PM to 4 PM at our beautiful Clubhouse. If you haven’t been to the Clubhouse lately, please take a look at the new furniture in the Grill Room; it’s fantastic!  This wonderful event affords you the opportunity to come out and meet your neighbors and wish everyone Happy Holidays. “It’s a complimentary buffet of delicious food served up by our staff. As always we ask you bring a nonperishable food donation for our annual Orange County Food Drive,” said Joey Welsh, Clubhouse Manager.
If you are a newcomer to Lake of the Woods, or if you haven’t attended the annual Holiday party, I suggest you get out there and enjoy the food and company!

Santa is Coming to LOW Atop Engine 29!

Engine 29, a 2015 Pierce Arrow XT 1500 GPM Pumper, will be Santa’s wheels as he visits kids and adults alike in Lake of the Woods and surrounding areas from December 18-20. Each night Santa will start and end his journey with a loop through the lower level Clubhouse Parking lot, and end with closing the loop on Lakeview Parkway. He will also drive through the Sheetz, Food Lion and the Walmart parking lots at the end of his trip each night.A brush truck will lead the procession one block ahead. This will allow residents to safely make it to their door to see Santa.
The schedule is as follows: 
Friday, December 18, starting about 5 PM (Marina Side LOW), Front Gate, the procession will head down Lakeview parkway to Yorktown Blvd and use the side streets to work its way past the back gate and stopping at Confederate Drive.

Saturday, December 19, starting about 5 PM (Golf Course Side), the procession will head down Lakeview Parkway to Confederate Circle and use the side streets to work its way back to the Front Gate.
Sunday, December 20, one trip around Lakeview Pkwy then to Wilderness Shores and Somerset subdivisions
You can follow Santa as he visits our area on the 18th, 19th and 20th using the GPS tracker on the LOW Fire and Rescue webpage,http://www.lowfr29.com under the Santa Tracker heading on the home page.

Santa Claus is Coming to Lake of the Woods!

Santa will be visiting LOW on Saturday, December 12, at the Community Center. The Lake Youth Foundation’s Connie Buttimer will be acting as the busy man’s secretary by taking appointments. Please call Connie  at 972-0083 to make an appointment between 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Bring your cameras to take as many photos as you’d like! Light refreshments will be available after your visit.

Holiday House Tour Set for December 12th!

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 or at LOW Church on the day of the tour for $12. If you pre-order tickets, they can be picked up at LOW Church from 11am-1pm. LOWA Receives Association Award

new low front gate resizedThe Lake of the Woods Association is the proud recipient of the 2015 Central Virginia Chapter Community Associations Institute’s “Community Association of the Year Award” for very large scale associations of 1,000 units or more! The award is designed to recognize community associations in the Central Virginia area that are excelling in all facets of their operations.
LOWA General Manager, Phil Rodenberg, stated, “It is a team effort of members, Board and staff to win such an award. So here’s to our talented, dependable LOWA employees who are working behind the scenes in big and little ways to serve the membership of our one-of-a-kind community.”
Current LOWA Board of Directors are Louisa Rucker, President; Mike Rugless, Vice President; Leighton Cumming, Secretary; JoAnn Zwickl, Treasurer; Jim Hutchison; Larry Moreland; and Nigel Goodwin.

In Lake of the Woods in October, a total of 14 homes were sold. 11 were standard sale, of which three sold between $100-$175K, two between $175-250K, and six between $250-350K.  There was one foreclosure at  under $100k, and three in the $100-175K price range.  There were two short sales, both selling between $175-250K. 5 lots also sold, two of which closed for over $100K.
