This is a free, family-friendly event! Participants will have the opportunity to meet the professionals who are leaders in wildlife conservation, who inspire citizens to value the outdoors and their own role in nature, as well as the professionals who care for sick, injured, and orphaned animals, and those who provide educational opportunities and resources to the public. Learn what their individual roles are and how they work together to benefit wildlife and habitat in Virginia. Our presenters will include: ● DWR Wildlife Biologist ● Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary Director ● Lake Anna State Park Chief Ranger ● Orange County Animal Control Officer ● LOW Security Officer ● Dispatches from the Forest nature-based educator Bring your questions about local wildlife and their habitat. Find out how to resolve conflicts between humans and wildlife and learn what you can do to help create a wildlife-friendly environment at home. Furbabies love to dress up and enjoy the spirit of the fall festivities just like us! Lake of the Woods will be hosting a spooktacular event on Saturday, October 29th from 2pm to 4:30pm specifically for man’s (and woman’s) best fur friend! Show those cats and dogs a howling good time by dressing them up in their most eerie-sistable costumes and join in on the parade around the point. Make sure to invite the whole family out to watch and cheer on all of the participants! Pets are limited to dogs and cats only and must be on a leash at all times. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Bring your friendly, swim-loving canines to the Sweetbriar Pool on Sunday, September 11th from 1 PM – 3 PM. There is no registration fee, but donations are welcome and highly encouraged. Donations from a Shelter’s “Need” list or a check made payable to Orange County Animal Shelter will be accepted. Although there is no registration fee, pre-registration is required see more at lowa.org. Registration also requires proof of vaccination for rabies, distemper, and kennel cough. No HUMANs swimming are allowed in the pool while the dogs are swimming, at any time. Space is limited so be sure to register! Bring your furry four-legged friends for a dip in the pool. Dogs must be on a leash when NOT in the water and please be prepared to clean up after your dog! *Rain date is Sunday, September 18th!*

Looking for something fun to do with the kids this fall in our local Lake of the Woods Community? Join the Lake of the Woods Ladies Golf Association as they sponsor and host a Fall Fun Day! The LOW Lioness Lions Club holds an annual School Supply Drive to support the Locust Grove Primary and Elementary Schools. They help these two schools by providing supplies needed to ensure a successful school year for both teachers and students. Donations will be collected at the LAKE OF THE WOODS FRONT GATE, Saturday, July 23rd from 9AM to 12PM, or you may donate a check for the Lionesses to purchase the items listed below. Please mail checks to PO BOX 811, Locust Grove VA 22508, please make checks payable to “LOW Lioness Foundation” and write “School Supply” in the check memo selection. Donations will also be accepted at The Licata Group’s Office, across from LOW Front Gate and in between AT&T and CVS in the Food Lion shopping center. On Saturday, July 9th the Lake of the Woods Sweetbriar Pool will be hosting a PIRATES & MERMAIDS fun-filled day! Join the LOW Adaptive Water Sports Foundation, Sunday, July 10th from 9AM to 3PM for a FREE fun day on the water! Bring your friends and family for the annual event that brings watersports to differently-abled people of all ages, walks of life and their families!
The carnival is held in honor of 2 women who left the world far too soon and young. This is a time to come together as a community and support each other with unconditional love and support.
There will be adaptive water-skiing, tubing, pontoon rides, kayaking, paddle-boarding and many outdoor games to play and participate in! This year, they are partnering with Therapeutic Adventures – IndependencePlus Adaptive Sports to bring adaptive paddling!
