Did you know there are 43 designated dark sky parks in the US? Of those 43 there are now 2 in Virginia! Staunton River State Park has been a designated dark sky park in Virginia. Next month the James River State Park in Buckingham County will be joining the International Dark-Sky Association!
James River State Park is located at: 104 Green Hill Dr, Gladstone VA 24553 and has outdoor lighting policy to minimize light pollution. According to the Free Lance Star, this project was lead by Lora Callahan as an effort to win a Girl Scout Gold Award.
