The moment we’ve all been waiting for, the long-awaited fireworks from the postponed Independence Day show have been officially rescheduled for Saturday, September 4th, 2021! First, there will be a show on the Veteran’s Dam by the Ski Team starting at 7pm! Fireworks are slated to begin around 8:45 PM from the Veteran’s Dam. Take this opportunity to grab your friends and meet up for dinner at the Clubhouse prior to the show! Visit the Belmont Farms Distillery located at 13490 Cedar Rd, Culpeper VA 22701 on Saturday between 10am and 5pm for a classic car and bike show! There will be crafters and various vendors on location, face painting, yummy food (of course!) and live entertainment!
The Distillery will have their gift shop open, and they will offer tours and tastings, so invite a friend for a fun event in Culpeper, Virginia! Admission is free to walk around and enjoy the day. If you’re interested in participating with your vehicle, the Cruise-In Car and Bike Show from 11am to 2pm, there is a donation registration fee of $10 per cart ad $5 per bike. All makes and models will be welcome!

Join Nancy Kochli on Saturday, August 21st as she provides instructions on how to weave a FUNCTIONAL market basket. Customize your basket to stand out at the farmers market, your next picnic, or just to showcase in your home. In addition, you will learn how to modify your basket pattern to create other baskets of various sizes and even how to stain it. You will leave with the ability to apply your newly learned skills to future basket-weaving projects! It is recommended that you wear comfortable old clothes, as there will be soaking of the reeds, and you may get wet during this process.
This event will begin at 10AM and be over by 3pm and will take place at the CCPRD Community Room at address 303 N. Main St, Culpeper VA 22701.
This beginner-level class does not require prior weaving experience, although it can be helpful. Materials will be provided, but you will be required to bring some tools with you to class. Tickets are $65 per person, along with the required tool list, can be purchased and found here.

The 3rd Thursdays are the new Fridays in Culpeper (at least during their Summer Concerts, brought to you by the Culpeper Renaissance, Inc.)! The first event is to start on Thursday, August 19th with The Reflex an 80s tribute band. They will offer a full-on retro experience with a diverse setlist of “MUST PLAY” 80s tunes.
Thursday, September 16th will feature a HIGH-energy show from En’Novation Band. They are a Richmond-based band with extremely well-seasoned singers and musicians, totaling decades of experience for your ears listening pleasure! They will be sure to light up the stage, so grab your dancing shoes, you won’t want to miss this performance.
Advanced tickets are $10 per concert and are available for purchase at various locations in Culpeper including Pepperberries (102 East Davis St), Museum of Culpeper History (113 South Commerce St.), and Oak View National Bank (405 James Madison Hwy). General admission will be available to purchase the day of the event, although a cost was not listed on their site. Kids will be FREE!
Pets and coolers WILL NOT be allowed, but picnic baskets are encouraged! Delicious food from Asian Taste, Burnt End BBQ, and Moo Thru Ice Cream will be on hand to satisfy your hunger, should the mood arise. The LOWS Pools Committee is hosting an adult beer & pretzel fundraiser on Saturday, August 28th. The fun is scheduled to start at 7pm and end by 10pm at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse pool!

This year’s 46th Orange County’s Street Festival will be in honor and remembrance of September 11, 2011, with the theme of HONOR OUR HEROES hosted by the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s annual beloved community event will take place from 9AM to 4PM on Saturday, September 11th, and typically features over 200 artisans, craft and commercial vendors, a variety of food and beverage options, live music, a kid’s zone, and a beer and wine garden for the adults. July 23 through July 25th, Liberty Mills Farm is hosting a Blooms and Butterflies event! Friday, July 23rd & Saturday, July 24th from 10AM – 3PM. Sunday, July 25th from 11AM – 3PM.
The featured butterflies species showcased are Painted Ladies. They are ordered and delivered to the farm from a small butterfly farm in Massachusetts called Butterflies and Blueberries. Did you know, they are the most widely distributed butterfly in the world? Painted Lady adult butterflies can cover up to 100 miles per day and reach speeds of nearly 30 miles per hour! Butterflies will be available to purchase to release yourself for $10 per butterfly.
Additional activities will include you-pick flowers (the pre-sale price of $25 each), giant zinnias, cosmos, music, a hayride, a farm market, and so much more!
Don’t fear going hungry on Saturday and Sunday, the Firefly on the Fly food truck will be at the farm to support all hungry bellies.

The Lake of the Woods Adaptive Watersports Foundation is back and ready to host the SmileS Adaptive Carnival!
This Carnival brings water sports to people with disabilities of all ages and walks of life, as well as their families. The Carnival is held in honor of 2 highly honored women who left this world too young. What sports will be featured? There will be adaptive waterskiing, tubing, pontoon rides, kayaking, paddleboarding, and additional fun outdoor games! This year, LOW is partnering with Therapeutic Adventures – IndependencePlus Adaptive Sports to bring adaptive paddling!
This event is to take place on Sunday, August 1st at 9AM at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse Point (102 Lake of the Woods Way, Locust Grove, VA 22508).
