This event will be the 37th Annual Fine Art Show held by the Lake of the Woods Visual Arts Council (LOWVAC) now known as LOW Arts, with the first having been in 1981; unfortunately, due to the pandemic in 2020, it was not held.
There will be a variety of mediums showcased and for sale, including paintings, photography, glass, fiber, jewelry, pottery, mixed media, and so much more, there is sure to be something for everyone! In addition to art, the Lake Authors of the Wilderness will be attending for sales and signing of their books, and the LOW Woodworking Club will reveal their creations made during one of their Challenges. Not only LOW artists will be featured; student artwork from the local county public schools will also be on display for admiration.
There will be a RAFFLES and a Silent Auction held to benefit the Orange County public school art programs with a theme of “LAKE LIFE.” Up for raffle will be 6 different wooden animals pull toys (animals of the lake) hand-painted by LOW artists, a “basket of art” that includes hundreds of dollars worth of artwork from participating artists, a gorgeous wood cutting board, and lastly, two large panels each featuring a dozen small works by LOW Arts members. The Soggy Doggie event is such a great way to close out the final days of summer and a wonderful ending to close down the pool season. Best of all, we are given an opportunity to watch these dogs enjoy themselves and have so much fun at the pool! Bring Fido to the Sweetbriar Pool (110 Sweetbriar Park Rd, Locust Grove, VA 22508) on Sunday, September 12 between 1pm – 3pm for the chance to close out the summer in the Lake of the Woods’ pool! Grab your pooches and bring them for what is sure to be a blast for all! Registration including proof of vaccinations is required. Pre-registration is available here. Humans will not be allowed in the pool with the dogs, and Owners are responsible for clean-up duty. The LOWS Pools Committee is hosting an adult beer & pretzel fundraiser on Saturday, August 28th. The fun is scheduled to start at 7pm and end by 10pm at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse pool!
The entry fee of $20 covers 1 individual and includes 2 glasses of beer and snacks. Additional beer may be purchased for $5 per glass. Tickets must be purchased in advance online here by August 25! Rain make-up date will be September 3rd and lifeguards will be on duty!
