Hidden in Orange County, Virginia is the wonderful, quaint town of Gordonsville! This year for 2022 there will be a variety of fun events being held and welcome for all to join. First Friday Music Series is back, happening the first Friday of the month, from 5:30pm to 8pm at the Town Hall Steps on Main Street in Gordonsville. The Suitables will kick-off the first Friday on June 3rd, followed by Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike Bank on July 1st. August 5th entertainers will be Hard Swimmin’ Fish followed by Cheap Whiskey on September 2nd. Craft soda, ice cream, food and merchant events will be offered and happening at the same time. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the town and some free music! When summer comes to an end, the music doesn’t have to stop. Saturday, October 8th from 11am-4pm will be the Main Street Market and there will be live music performed by Chicken Head Blues Band. Get ready to saddle up and go for one last ride! Make sure you don’t miss the Final 2019 Bull Riding and Rodeo on September 14, at Oakland Heights Farm in Gordonsville, Virginia. Gates open at 5:30 PM with live music beginning at 6:00 PM. Vendors and concession stands are available throughout the event with proceeds benefiting the Gordonsville Fire Department. When the clock strikes 7:15 PM, the show begins as you watch contestants try their luck as they take on a 1-ton bull! Admission for adults is $15.00, kids 3-13 are $10.00 and 2 and under is free. Did you know Gordonsville is famous for their friend chicken?? It had been served to passengers of trains stopping in town during the late 19th / 20th centuries by the local women. They would carry platters of the delicacy on their heads! Known at that time nationally, Gordonsville’s fried chicken, was given the town the nickname of “Chicken-leg Center of the Universe.”
The Town of Gordonsville has celebrated this special heritage each year with their Annual Fried Chicken Festival! There will be a fried chicken and pie contest, a wine garden, and crafts & artisan vendors.

There will be up to 10 food trucks for the afternoon and each truck will have a $5 sampler to try and full size menu. YOU, a local food critic, the Horton staff, and any other willing participants are able to vote on your favorite food truck!
Horton’s will offer tastings and will be selling wine on the crush pad as well in the tasting room.

For one day, Saturday, April 27th Horton Vineyards, located at: 6399 Spotswood Trail, Gordonsville VA 22942 will be hosting a free Wizarding Winery event! There will be indoor and outdoor games, shopping opportunities with different vendors, complete with make your own wand stations and much more! No tickets will be necessary to purchase or RSVP for.
This magical event will take place from 12pm to 4pm and open to everyone! You are encouraged and welcomed to bring tents and chairs for your group to set up outside as well as dress up and participate in all the activities. There will be Medieval Fantasies Company present dressed up and walking through the crowds for entertainment. The Bavarian Chef will also be at the Vineyard from 11AM – 4PM serving their best delicious dishes! Of course, it’s not complete without wonderful themed treats from Cocoa & Spice and Kilwins Charlottesville. So come thirsty, hungry, and ready for a fun Wizarding event!
