Saturday and Sunday, August 20th and 21st Germmana Foundation is hosting an unique event. This is their second annual Historic Trades Weekend from 10am to 4pm at the Fort Germanna Visitor Center. There will be live demonstrations including surveying, blacksmithing, eel basket weaving, and more! While there is no cost to visit, a $10 donation will help the costs of the event. Saturday, September 24th will be Fort Germanna’s Public Access Day. The Germanna Foundation and Germanna Archaeology Program offer this unique opportunity to view archaeological excavations of this important colonial site. Friday, October 21st, and Saturday, October 22nd, experience Salubria After Dark with scary stories for both the young and old alike to enjoy! This special evening will consist of several professional storytellers sharing their best spooktacular tales on the grounds of historic Salubria, Culpeper County’s oldest brick house that was built in 1757! Guests will be divided into 3 groups of 20 and will adventure to three different stops, greeted by a storyteller! The tour should last approximately 1 hour and is rain or shine! The LOW Lioness Lions Club holds an annual School Supply Drive to support the Locust Grove Primary and Elementary Schools. They help these two schools by providing supplies needed to ensure a successful school year for both teachers and students. Donations will be collected at the LAKE OF THE WOODS FRONT GATE, Saturday, July 23rd from 9AM to 12PM, or you may donate a check for the Lionesses to purchase the items listed below. Please mail checks to PO BOX 811, Locust Grove VA 22508, please make checks payable to “LOW Lioness Foundation” and write “School Supply” in the check memo selection. Donations will also be accepted at The Licata Group’s Office, across from LOW Front Gate and in between AT&T and CVS in the Food Lion shopping center. The carnival is held in honor of 2 women who left the world far too soon and young. This is a time to come together as a community and support each other with unconditional love and support.
There will be adaptive water-skiing, tubing, pontoon rides, kayaking, paddle-boarding and many outdoor games to play and participate in! This year, they are partnering with Therapeutic Adventures – IndependencePlus Adaptive Sports to bring adaptive paddling!

It’s time to break out the fishing poles and bait buckets for the 23rd Annual children’s Fishing Tournament that is being held by the Lake Youth Foundation! Tournament day is Saturday, June 18th from 9am – 11am and will be held at the front entrance pond. Children ages 5 to 14 years old are encouraged to participate! Registration beings today, May 13th, 2022 and ends on June 15th, 2022. Limited space is available to hurry over to lakeyouth.orgto register before spaces are reserved. They will not allow registration the day OF the event. Check-in will begin at 8am on tournament day. Participants and their families will be served snacks and drinks immediately following the tournament, followed by an awards ceremony at 11:30 AM. Are you ready for the first concert of the season??? New to Lake of the Woods, The Unsuitables will be kicking off the Concerts on the Point series on Friday, May 27th! The Unsuitables, formed about eight years ago, will begin at 7pm and play tunes from the Temptations to Santana to the Beatles until approximately 9:30pm. The Lake of the Woods Lions Club will be acting as “hospitality committee” at the concert, and hosting a fundraiser. Why not have dinner at the Clubhouse before or during the concert on the deck? Want to bring your own meal? That’s perfect, as well! So bring a chair, your dancing shoes, and enjoy the music with your fellow LOW residents! The concerts are always a great way to spend the evening!
