Save the date for Saturday, September 10th starting at 1pm and ending at 4pm at the Lake of the Woods, Woods Center (108 Fairway Dr, Locust Grove VA 22508). The first 100 kids to arrive will receive a free hotdog, chips, and drink! After the first 100, it’s $5 for each child thereafter. Parents may bring kids up to age 10 for a day of free games and tons of fun including a bouncy house, golf cart rides, and games, games, games! It’s time to break out the fishing poles and bait buckets for the 23rd Annual children’s Fishing Tournament that is being held by the Lake Youth Foundation! Tournament day is Saturday, June 18th from 9am – 11am and will be held at the front entrance pond. Children ages 5 to 14 years old are encouraged to participate! Registration beings today, May 13th, 2022 and ends on June 15th, 2022. Limited space is available to hurry over to lakeyouth.orgto register before spaces are reserved. They will not allow registration the day OF the event. Check-in will begin at 8am on tournament day. Participants and their families will be served snacks and drinks immediately following the tournament, followed by an awards ceremony at 11:30 AM. Join the Germanna Foundation as they host a Public Access Day event at Historic Sulabria Manor in Stevensburg, Virginia on Saturday, April 30th from 10:30AM – 3:00PM. Visitors will experience hands on activities for kids, opportunity to walk the grounds of the historic building and learn more about the landscape with their staff archaeologist, Dr. Eric Larsen, VCU, and VCU professor Dr. Bernard Means will have a table of 3D objects for visitors to view and ask questions. A tour inside of historic Salubria will also be included with the purchase of a ticket. Touring the grounds is free, but to tour inside it will be $10 per person and includes a 45-minute tour. Tours take place on the hour at 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm however they are limited to 15 visitors per tour hour. Please register for the event here. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Salubria is located at 19173 Salubria Lane (off Route 3; if you are traveling west towards Culpeper, it will be on your left). Visitors can stop anytime between the scheduled hours.

Culpeper Renaissance Inc is throwing Culpeper’s NEW Gnarly Neighborhood Block Party on Saturday, April 30th from noon – 12pm! This will take place in Downtown Culpeper’s Depot District and will feature local craft beer and cider for purchase along with wine for the wine lovers out there. The Judy Chops and the Will Overman Band will perform live music for all to enjoy while indulging in the food trucks, participating in the lawn games and other family fun. The Annual Orange Uncorked Wine Festival is celebrating it’s 31st annual year!! Sponsored by the Market at Grelen, the Orange Uncorked Wine Festival is due to take place this year on Mother’s Day weekend, on both Saturday May 7th and Sunday, May 8th! It will take place at: 10325 Jacksontown Rd, Somerset Virginia 22972 from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Be sure to mark your calendars and buy your tickets! It’s time to start planning for your Independence day celebration activities! Save the date for Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 for the Lake of the Woods’ Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration full of fun. What’s in store? Flag Ceremony, parade, activities on the point and of course, FIREWORKS!!!! Opening Ceremony is scheduled to being at 9:45AM at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse parking lot, followed by the parade from 10am to noon that will begin on Yorktown Blvd all the way to the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse parking lot. The point activities shall began at noon time and end around 4pm. To settle into the night, the Ski Club will perform their show at 6pm on the Clubhouse dock followed by Fireworks at Veterans dam that are scheduled to begin promptly at dark, approximately at 9:15am!
