The Library of Congress Packard Campus that houses the Library of Congress’ Recorded Sound and Moving Images collections and holds film, audio and video preservation laboratories, is hosting their annual open house. Fans of the Library of Congress, native Virginians, film and music enthusiasts, and any one interested in visiting the unique building are encouraged to come to the open house! This year they will focus on how education and training led employees of Packard Campus to their careers within the Library of Congress! Children and school groups are welcome to participate in the Open house Activities! Any slower moving guests and their companions are invited to take the 1:15pm or 1:30pm tour as they will move at a slower pace during this tour and have additional staff available for assistance. This is a free event and the tour is lead by the Packard Campus staff. The guided tour will take you through all 3 floors of the building and will take approximately 1 hour to complete. The tour is free but tickets through EVENTBRITE are required. Only those with a ticket from eventbrite are guaranteed to be on a tour. Walk-ins will be accommodated IF there are spaces available and will have to wait a few hours longer to go on the tour. Tours are limited to 34 people PER start time. Please do not arrive at the Campus more than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour. There are only 134 parking spaces so carpooling is highly recommended by the Campus staff.
